History of WFKO
Full Contact Karate is a traditional sport that inherits the legacy and spirit of Kyokushin Karate, which was founded in 1956. Various practical organizations and schools of Full Contact Karate united their efforts to establish the Japan Full Contact Karate Organization (JFKO) in March 2013, becoming the first domestic federation in the history of Full Contact Karate. In 2014, when JFKO, the domestic federation of Full Contact Karate, began organizing unified competitions, the demand for global unified events grew, leading to the active hosting of unified competitions on a national level. Today, the sport continues to develop, with the number of participants exceeding 20 million worldwide and 200,000 in Japan, making it a sport enjoyed by all generations.
